The small Alaskan trapnet is equipped with a recuperation cage located at the end of the gear. It permits to let the net anchored without hauling the gear when we visit it.

The fish are recuperated with the help of a dip net. A zipper line opening permits to recuperate the fish. Stakes are used to anchor the trapnet. The cage size is relatively proportioned to the net size.

This fishing gear is mainly used to catch small size fish like: smolts, trouts or others. It is equipped with a guiding central net (leader), 2 wings ( side nets ) in order to let the fish go inside the bowl. The frame is made of rigid aluminum and it is equipped with five 30" diameter hoops. It is made up of knotless nylon net. Zipper lines are located at each entrance in order to clean the gear.

The fence (leader net) and the wings are rigged on a braided polypropylene bolt rope and equipped with durable plastic floats, a leaded line supports the wings and the leader lower part.

We manufacture the height of the gear is 36" up to 48" according your needs.

* The wings and the leader are not included when you buy that trapnet. Therefore we keep in stock wings and fences of 25' long. They are made up of knotless nylon net, with twines # 210/9, or # 210/12.

The illustration below shows a kind of trapnet used mainly in the rivers.That model can catch fish going up or down the current. It is equipped with a recuperation bowl separated by a fence of net, that will permit to separate the fish according to their size and your needs. A fence is placed on each side, in order to lead the fish inside the trapnet. This one is kept in place preferably by iron stake; wood poles are slid in each stoke. These are equipped with a pulley and a rope to fix the net firmly to the bottom. To recuperate the fish, the ropes are untied and the net is hauled to the surface in order to proceed with the capture.

Information will be sent to you on request concerning the use of the trapnet. These nets are manufactured according to certain precise information coming from our customers such as: strength of the current, depth of the water, kind of bottom and the fish species.

The use of that gear and its functions are the same as the other trapnets, but furthermore that gear is equipped with a roofnet to stop the fish from jumping over the net. A detachable frame divides the two parts of the trapnet. The gear is 4' high. It is easy to install. Stokes or anchors are used to keep it in place. The frame and the entrances are made of rigid aluminum pipes.

Built in knotless nylon net, is rigged on squares meshes, it doesn't permit the fish to enmesh in the net. Plastic floats #245 are rigged on the head line and a leaded braid supports the lower part of the gear. Some bridle lines are placed in different places to facilitate the net anchorage.

That fishing gear as shown below , is mainly used when we want to catch alive in order to release them after having tagged or marked them. Based on the same principles as the hoopnets, but bigger. The trapnet shuts the fish up. It is equipped with one or many bowls and leads to direct the fish towards the bowl (s) It is preferably made with knotless net , because the fish are less injured when recuperated.

The mesh of the leader is generally bigger than the one of the trapnet itself. All our trapnets are squared mesh made, in order to give a better shape to the net when it works.

That gear is usually used in lakes or docks where the current doesn't exist. The trapnet is equipped with a guiding net (leader) that directs the fish to the trapnet. The front part of the capture room (bowl) has a roof to stop the fish swimming over the gear. The back part of the bowl is made of rigid pieces : pipes on bottom part, a piece of wood on the upper part. Anchors help the gear fishing. That gear can be made to catch small or big fish.
