Seine for electrical fishing
A small net used in rivers to catch small fish when electrical fishing is desired. It is equipped with a protective canvas on the lower part of the net in order to put a ballast made up of stones or others objects to keep the net on the bottom of the river.

This seine is an encircling net. It is used to encircle the fish to catch them, It is made of 3 sections : 2 wings located at the ends, and a purse in the central part. It is made up of nylon. We manufacture rectangular and pear shaped seine according to its use. It is important to know the depth of the water where the seine is used.

The upper part is rigged on a polypropylene braided rope, and is equipped with surface floats. The lower part is rigged on a double leaded braid (footrope)

Beach Seine

The Minnoes seine is different from the other seines of its size. Smaller, it is equipped of a central rectangular or square purse. Manufactured with a very small mesh, this seine is mostly used to catch small fish like : alevins, chubs or others. Made of a very small mesh, the seine must be short to facilitate the gear handling when used.

The upper part is rigged on a braided polypropylene headrope; plastic floats are attached over this headrope. The lower part is supported and reinforced by a leadline.

We have in stock 2 kinds of chub seine as illustrated.

The beach rectangular seine is used to catch: smelt, caplan, sand-eel or other fresh water fish species.

Built in 5 sections, the central mesh part is usually smaller than the wing parts, and the twine diameter is bigger in the central part (purse). The meshes vary according to the fish species wanted. The illustrations below show the plan of the seine and the seine in operation.

Rectangular Seine

This gear is used to catch the fish when they are grouped. This is an encircling net used to encircle the fish. A rope called "Purse line" is fixed on the lower part of the seine and it is used to purse the seine.

That gear is used by aquacultors to transfer their fish. It is mainly used in deep water. The illustrations show the different components of a purse net and the seine in operation.
